Reads Racing Demolition Derby Rules
 
All rules must be followed in order to run.
1. Any year American make sedan or station wagon can be run. No 4x4's, ambulances, hearses, trucks, limousines, imperials etc.
2. Drivers must be at least 16 years of age. ANY DRIVER UNDER 18 MUST HAVE A NOTARIZED NOTE FROM PARENTS GIVING PERMISSION TO DRIVE.
3. NO ONE UNDER 14 YEARS OF AGE IN PIT AREA. Plan accordingly if you are bringing small children.
4. Passengers are allowed, but MUST BE 16 YEARS OF AGE!
5. Driver must wear seat belt, helmet and eye protection. Long Sleeve shirt must be worn.
6. All drivers and passengers must attend the drivers meeting
7. DO Not hit the driver's door! Or passenger Door, if there is a passenger. Sometimes this happens, but if it looks intentional or like carelessness, you will be disqualified.
8. No hot rodding in the pit area. You must remain at idle speed at all times!
9. NO Sandbagging or holding! You will be disqualified!
10. You will be given 30 seconds for aggressive hits, 1 minute for restarts, and 1 minute if you are hung up.
11. NO ALCOHOL in the pits. If anyone is caught with alcohol they will be disqualified. This includes Members of the pit crew.
12. There is a $50 protest fee and you must be a driver to protest. Driver must have cash in hand at the drivers meeting in order to protest.
13. Any controversies will be taken up at the drivers meeting.
14. Any open door or fire will cause disqualification. If this happens while in a heat race you may fix the problem and come back in the consolation.
15. No extra vehicles allowed in pit area. Only vehicle pulling car or vehicles with welding equipment on them allowed in pit area.

Entry Fee: $25.00
Passenger Fee: $15.00
Pit Pass and Passenger get a pit pass with entry. All others $10.00 per person Pit passes.
General Admission: $8.00 per person
 
Car Preparation
1. All cars must be stock unless modification is stated in the rules.
2. All glass, plastic, chrome, and interior must be removed from car before arriving to the derby.
3. All decking in station wagons must be removed.
4. You may run any tire you wish.
5. Use motor or tranny of choice. Motor must be in stock location. You may chain or weld motor and tranny to keep in place (don't strengthen frame)
6. Use rear end of choice. Must be 5 lug. Welded or posi-track highly recommended.
7. Radiator must be in stock location.
8. All cars must have working brakes.
9. A-arms, ball joints and trailing arms must remain stock.
10. All trailer hitches and braces must be removed.
11. Original gas tank must be removed. You must use a boat tank or well made fuel cell and it must be properly secured and covered. No gas cans. Plastic gas tanks must be covered with a metal shield. Fuel line must be secured and seat used to be. High pressure fuel line recommended.
12. Transmission coolers will be allowed but must be in motor compartment, under the hood!
13. Batteries must be moved to passenger floorboard close to transmission. It must be properly secured and covered. Home made battery box, old car rim, ect. You may have 2 auto batteries.
14. You must have a number in bright colors on each front door.
15. Passenger Must have a bar handle (Steering column) to hold on to.
 
Car Building
1. You may weld your doors with 2" or 3 " straps, both front doors may be welded solid, back doors can have 2, 4 in. straps per seam. If you don't weld your doors, you must wire or chain them with 3/8 chain. You are allowed 2 per seam.
2. A 4 pt. cage is allowed. NO KICKERS!! Gas tank protector must be at least 2 inches from rear firewall, and must be around fuel cell only. But cannot weld or bolt to body or frame. Uprights for cage must be on top of frame, front ones must be behind boxes, parallel with inside door seam, rear ones no more than 12 inches behind front seat and no material bigger than 3 inch outside diameter.
3. Bumpers are interchangeable. Any automotive bumper and bumper brackets may be used on a car. No home made bumpers or brackets.
4. You can weld bumper brackets to the bumper. You may fold bumper ends when welding bumpers, shocks, and brackets DO NOT add any metal. Weld Shocks and brackets solid.
5. Hood must have at least a 12 inch hole cut out in case of fire. Hood bolts must be sheet metal to sheet metal. Hood support bolts may go all the way through hood no bigger than 3/4 all thread.
6. Wire can go from radiator support ( not Hood) to bumper in 6 places.
7. You can patch rust holes in sheet metal only! Do not cut rust out - weld 2" beyond rust. Do not weld the body to the frame.
8. Top frame seems under the hood my be welded, single pass only.
9. Body mount bolts can be changed with no bigger than 1/2 bolts with 3 in. dia washers, you can take mounts out.
10. Suspension must be stock. No converting coil spring to leaf springs, and no adding leafs on top of main leafs if it is a stock leaf spring car. You can wire from frame to rear end to prevent springs from falling out. No bigger than #9 wire or 3/8 chain/cable may be used. Must be able to bounce.
11. You can run shifter through floor with minimal hole in floor. You can have a switch panel. You may also have a hand throttle. If you are running electric fuel pump it must be hooked up to your ignition switch so when your car shuts off - it shuts off. It must be labeled on/off. If you run electric fuel pump you must run high pressure fuel line.
12. You may alter your steering column to prevent loss of steering.
13. You may cut wheel wells for tire clearance, you may also add up to 6 3/8's bolts in wheel wells , with 3/8 washers.
14. For safety , hard top cars may have strap or bar going from center door post to roof.
15. You MUST have 1 bar or wire in the windshield from roof to dash for safety reasons.
16. You may run wire from framerail underneath back of car and behind rear end with 4 loops of wire or 1 loop of 3/8 inch chain or cable for wheel clearance.
17. Distributor protector allowed, if that is all it is protecting.
18. Patching frame will be allowed on pre derbyed cars, call first. You must be able to see where it was bent.
 
There will be a Truck class this year!
 
Truck Rules
Any stock 1/2, 3/4 truck or suburban, NO 4 x 4's. All rules for cars apply to trucks except,
1. All cages must be contained to the inside of cab only
2. Trucks must run stock truck front bumpers, no welding car bumpers on
3. You may weld doors solid, you may weld beds to cab solid and you may also weld tail gates solid inside and out.
4. You may add body bolts to hold cab to frame and you can have up to 12 bolts holding bed to frame.
5. You must bolt bed to cab in at least 3 places.
6. Gas tanks must be in the center of bed against cab.
